Camposaz: Wood Self-Construction Workshop

Camposaz has been invited to participate in a much broader project called “Luoghi di Noi” held by INU Trentino. During the workshop, the participants will ideate and create wood installations to host an exhibition about participatory planning.

“Luoghi di noi” (Planes of us) is a project conceived and carried out by INU – Trentino section, within “Bando Memoria” of the Caritro Foundation, which wants to rediscover and enhance a recent history that led to the urban transformation of the city of Trento in the second post-war period, leading to the birth of meeting places today identifying the community, fundamental for the urban ecosystem and the quality of city life (e.g. Giardini Solzhenitsyn).

Within this event, Camposaz will be in charge of building display elements and furnishings to host the exhibition that recounts these historical events and of enhancing the space of the park.

Camposaz is a wood self-construction workshop on a 1:1 scale with the ambition to promote interaction between disciplines and practitioners dealing with architectural design.

The workshop is open to architects, designers, and carpenters between 18 and 35 years of age. Living in close contact during the workshop, they have to design and physically construct small wood installations, based on specific themes, to enhance the landscape.

Camposaz: Wood Self-Construction Workshop

The built project is site-specific and it can change according to the conditions. During the workshop, design and construction are tight processes and proceed in parallel. The initiative aims to condense in a unique experience immaterial and material aspects of the construction process. Knowledge sharing and adaptability are necessary conditions for a successful result. Camposaz is an open platform without hierarchies and fixed roles: it is an open-source initiative in which everyone can bring his contribution to the development of a process that has no pre-established direction.

In this sense, Camposaz promotes a different point of view and new design approaches in problematic urban locations. This is to develop a sort of “instinctive architecture” with no prejudices and with a lot of collaborative improvisation.

Moreover, interested parties must complete the form by 17 August 2022.

The workshop is entirely free! Participants will pay the registration fee for the Camposaz association of € 10.
