DALI Lighting Awards 2027

Award brief
The DALI Alliance’s 2027 Lighting Awards are a free international call for lighting projects that use the Digital Addressable Lighting Interface (DALI). The programme evaluates how teams designed and implemented lighting controls in actual projects, including housing, workplaces, public interiors and architectural façades. It does not require the project to rely exclusively on DALI.
Eligibility and submission
| Who may enter | Project teams and organisations worldwide may apply, regardless of DALI Alliance membership. Identify the designers, consultants, installers and suppliers involved and distinguish their roles. The current entry guidance permits multiple distinct projects, with one submission per project. |
| Project dates | The application portal gives January 2024 through December 2026 for completion. The organiser’s guidelines also say ongoing projects may be considered when images and tangible results exist. A separate paragraph on the same guidelines page still shows January 2026 as the upper limit; confirm eligibility with the organiser before relying on the longer window or the ongoing-work exception. |
| What to prepare | Project name, location and completion date; the applicant and team details; application category and, where appropriate, an innovation category; a description of how and why DALI is used and what the project achieved; one to five images, each up to 10 MB. |
| Image rights | Entrants must provide images available for the organiser’s publication and promotion of the awards. Confirm the client’s and photographer’s permissions before uploading. |
| Fee and deadline | No entry fee. The entry portal closes on 8 January 2027 at 10:00 a.m. GMT−06:00 (16:00 UTC). No separate advance registration cutoff was announced in the reviewed material. |
Judging and recognition
Application categories cover settings from homes and commercial spaces to industrial sites and infrastructure. Innovation categories include emergency integration, lighting for occupants, interoperability with other systems and energy efficiency. An international jury selects the winners. The organiser says trophies will be presented at the DALI 27 summit in Utrecht, 23–24 February 2027; the reviewed announcement does not state a cash prize.
✦ ArchUp Competition Review
A useful submission connects a controls decision to a result: for example, how zoning and daylight dimming let a deep office floor maintain task lighting without leaving every luminaire at full output. A short control diagram and a measured operating record explain that decision better than a finished interior photograph alone. If the system is still being commissioned, separate observed results from expected savings.
