Competition brief

NYX Design Awards 2027 is the inaugural design edition of the NYX programme, organised by International Awards Associate Inc. (IAA). It accepts existing work and concepts rather than asking everyone to design a single building. Architectural design, interiors, landscape, urban/public space, furniture, lighting and exhibition design sit within twelve disciplines.

Eligibility and entry

Individuals, studios, multidisciplinary teams, manufacturers, institutions and students worldwide may enter. Completed, unbuilt, prototype and unpublished work can qualify if created, launched, completed, published or substantially updated on or after 1 January 2022. Select a category that accurately represents the project.

Judging, recognition and rights

The organiser describes anonymous project assessment against creativity, execution, innovation, functionality and impact. The reviewed jury page explains the process but does not name a panel, limiting independent assessment of its expertise. The terms distinguish project judging from identified individual/team honours; these are not equivalent anonymous processes.

Recognition includes Silver, Gold, Grand Winner and Design of the Year, digital certificates and online exposure. Trophy orders are additional purchases; no cash prize or construction commission is stated. Entrants retain ownership while granting a broad, non-exclusive, worldwide, transferable and sublicensable licence for administration, publication and promotion. Read that licence before uploading client material.

✦ ArchUp Competition Review

For an architecture practice, the useful task is selecting evidence that connects a design decision to its consequences: a plan explaining circulation, a detail demonstrating construction, or an honest comparison of intended and observed performance. An image-led submission without those connections says little about professional value.

This is a paid recognition programme. Its broad eligibility suits completed projects and exploratory work, but does not establish the professional value of winning. Compare the entry cost, disclosure licence and additional trophy costs against the studio’s objectives. The first design edition should not be confused with a proven track record of design-edition results.

Indicative time to the final deadline

The final extension is dated 4 March 2027 without a confirmed closing hour or timezone. This counter uses the start of that day, 00:00 UTC, as a conservative editorial reference. It is not the official closing instant. Submit early and confirm the cutoff.
