EGE MİMARLIK DERGİSİ KAPAK YARIŞMASI 2026

Entry status unconfirmed Submission closes in Check eligibility and official updates.
The Ege Mimarlık magazine cover competition invites architecture students to interpret Material for its January 2027 issue. This is a graphic-design opportunity within architectural publishing: the brief connects materials with spatial experience, labour, supply chains, craft, digital production and circularity. It does not commission a building.
Entry is restricted to architecture undergraduates studying in Türkiye who hold TMMOB Chamber of Architects student membership. Submitted designs cannot be withdrawn; credited reuse is permitted without further royalties, and use of the selected design on the cover remains discretionary.

Organiser and jury
The call is issued by the İzmir Branch itself and published through its architectural journal, with a named editorial-board jury. The journal’s official notices also document a 2025 cover competition and its results; this establishes a previous edition without implying an independently audited delivery record. The present call names no separate commercial operator or building client.

| Lale Başarır | Associate professor, Architecture, İzmir University of Economics |
| Gaye Birol | Professor, Architecture, İzmir Democracy University |
| Ülkü İnceköse | Associate professor, Architecture, İzmir Institute of Technology |

Rapporteur: Ilgın Külekçi, the journal’s publication secretary. No weighted scoring matrix is announced; the brief asks the cover to communicate the Material theme.
✦ ArchUp Competition Review
This is a focused exercise in communicating architecture, with a manageable graphic deliverable and an identifiable professional institution behind the call. A strong response could make the relationships behind a material visible—its production, handling or reuse—rather than relying only on an attractive surface. That is ArchUp’s interpretation of the brief, not an additional judging requirement.
The published jury brings architectural education, practice, interior design and archaeology into the assessment. Its editorial role is relevant to selecting a journal cover, although the listed affiliations alone do not establish specialist graphic-design experience for every member. The absence of scoring weights leaves applicants less certainty about how conceptual clarity and visual execution will be balanced.
Free entry lowers the direct financial barrier, but the reuse and withdrawal provisions deserve attention before committing original work. Recognition and a cash award should be distinguished from a guaranteed publication commission. The competition is suitable for its defined student audience; its geographic and membership restrictions should be checked before design work begins.
