Architecture Competition: Entrance Design for the Orthen Cemetry. The Bosch Architectuur Initiatief (BAI) invites architects and designers to create a new entrance design to Orthen Cemetery (Begraafplaats Orthen) in Den Bosch, through an Open Competition – Open Call Orthen. This memorial park is the green oasis of tranquility, intertwining the city with commemoration, remembrance, standing still, and reflection, and is open to all backgrounds, ages, disabilities, and religions. Through this Open Call, BAI and the Stichting Solamen (the foundation that manages the cemetery) look to expand the reach of this memorial park by creating an inviting entranceway.

Registration is free of charge and can be done as an individual or in a team, with submissions due October 20th, ’23. The winning design will be build and receive an honorarium accordingly. The second prize is €2,000, with two optional honorable mentions of €500 each. This initiative now joins a modest tradition of the BAI design competitions which have included the De moerasbrug (2004). Moreover, De drijvende woning (2006), Een verbinding over de Zuid-Willemsvaart (2008), and Reset het Heetmanplein (2012). Lastly, Laat de Heus vonken (2014), and Smart Square (2019). PLEASE NOTE: Open Call Orthen is open only to residents of The Netherlands. Also, the submission must be done in Dutch and physically submitted in Den Bosch.
