FORT biennale_02: Reclaiming Collective is a major contemporary art exhibition taking place from June 13 to November 8, 2026, at the historic Franzensfeste Fortress (Forte di Fortezza) in northern Italy. Set within a monumental 19th-century military stronghold originally designed for defense and separation, the exhibition explores ideas of togetherness, community, collaboration, and collective action.
Curated by Hannes Egger, Andrea Lerda, and Veronika Vascotto, the second edition of the FORT biennale brings together around twenty international and Italian artists whose practices examine how people connect, communicate, and create shared spaces and experiences. Participating artists include Bea Bonafini, Marinella Senatore, Dan Perjovschi, and Rebecca Moccia, among others.
The exhibition is structured around four chapters—Think, Play, Dance, and Act—each offering a different perspective on collective life and participation. Through installations, performances, participatory works, and other contemporary artistic practices, Reclaiming Collective transforms the fortress from a historical symbol of separation into a space for dialogue, interaction, and collective imagination.
By bringing contemporary art into conversation with the fortress’s military history, FORT biennale_02 invites visitors to reconsider the meaning of community and explore how art can create new forms of connection and shared experience.
