The 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg 2026, titled “Alliance, Infinity, Love – in the Face of the Other,” is presented as an international photography festival exploring the social and transformative potential of photography. The festival takes place in Hamburg from June 5 to September 22, 2026.

The 9th Triennial of Photography Hamburg will take place from June 5 to September 22, 2026, across museums, cultural institutions, and independent project spaces throughout Hamburg, Germany. Under the artistic direction of Prof. Dr. Mark Sealy, the triennial is presented under the theme “Alliance, Infinity, Love – in the Face of the Other.”

The 2026 edition explores photography as a social and transformative force, examining questions of human responsibility, justice, solidarity, identity, and connection. Through a diverse program of exhibitions and artistic projects, the festival considers how photographic practices can respond to contemporary social and political realities while creating new perspectives on relationships between individuals and communities.

The program features 11 major exhibitions across eight leading Hamburg museums and cultural institutions, as well as 15 independent project spaces. Participating venues include Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Bucerius Kunst Forum, Hamburger Kunsthalle, Kunsthaus Hamburg, Kunstverein in Hamburg, MARKK, Museum der Arbeit, and the Museum for Art and Craft Hamburg.

Opening days will take place from June 4 to 14, 2026, with special launch events and the Triennial Expanded program. Together, the exhibitions, events, and independent projects establish Hamburg as an international meeting point for contemporary photography, encouraging dialogue about humanity, social responsibility, and the power of images to connect people.
