The FIT Sport Design Awards celebrate the best in sports design, recognizing outstanding achievements in technology, eco-friendly products, and performance-enhancing gear. This competition offers a unique opportunity for designers, brands, and manufacturers to showcase their work and drive the future of sports design.

About the Competition

Now in its third edition, the FIT Sport Design Awards honor groundbreaking and sustainable innovations in sports. The awards recognize visionary creators who push boundaries and develop game-changing sports equipment and apparel. Designers, brands, and manufacturers from around the globe are encouraged to participate and submit their entries.

Judging Panel

Entries will be evaluated by a panel of international design experts, including:

  • David Filar, Director of Product Creation & Design at Endstate.
  • Charles Johnson, Design Innovation Leader and Assistant Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University.
  • Cheresse Thornhill-Goldson, Director of Design Education & Growth at adidas’ S.E.E.D.
  • Daniel Shirley, Football Footwear Designer at Puma.

Last year’s winners included:

  • BetterGuard by Betterguards Technology, Inc.: Sport Gear Design of the Year for its injury prevention and recovery technology.
  • IMBRACE Snow by IMBRACE: Sport Apparel Design of the Year for protective compression leggings.
  • Soof Azani for Ezun: Emerging Sport Gear Designer of the Year for a home rehabilitation solution.
  • Huali Qu and Lucy Hui for AquaRevive: Emerging Sport Apparel Designer of the Year for eco-friendly underwater gear.

Categories and Opportunities

The FIT Sport Design Awards cover 29 categories for gear, equipment, and apparel, divided into:

  • General Sports
  • Sport-Specific Categories
  • Special Categories

This comprehensive program allows participants to reach an international market and gain recognition in a cross-disciplinary platform.

Support for Emerging Designers

In addition to recognizing established designers, the awards also support emerging artists. FIT Sport Design Awards have partnered with prestigious universities, such as L’École de Design Nantes Atlantique, ArtCenter College of Design, Georgia Tech, MIT Institute of Design, and Politecnico di Milano, to encourage innovation in sports design.

Entry Fees for 2025

  • Company/Brand: CHF 250 (approx. US$270)
  • Independent Designer: CHF 100 (approx. US$107)
  • Student: CHF 50 (approx. US$54)

A 50% discount applies for entries in additional categories.

Deadlines for 2025

  • 15% Early Bird Discount: Until September 30, 2024
  • 10% Extended Early Bird Discount: Until November 30, 2024
  • Regular Deadline: January 31, 2025
  • Final Deadline: March 1, 2025 (with a 10% late fee applicable until April 14, 2025)

The program closes on April 14, 2025.
