Architecture Competition: Iceland Ski Snow Cabin

Iceland is a location where the Northern Lights dance overhead and the snow whispers old stories. Its raw, untamed beauty creates a canvas unlike any other. Buildner’s “Iceland Ski Snow Cabin” competition asks designers and architects to enhance this breathtaking terrain by constructing a refuge for the ski community. The goal of this competition is to create an experience that captures the essence of Icelandic winters, not just to build a structure.

The challenge for the participants is to create a tiny cabin that will act as a cozy and welcoming rest break for skiers. This building should be efficient and aesthetically pleasing in the charming way that Icelandic design is known, with amenities that meet both utilitarian and comfort needs and beautifully frame the breathtaking views of the surroundings.

The cabin needs to have amenities including a place to relax and warm up, a self-serve refreshment station, restrooms, changing areas, equipment storage, and a garage for snow groomer maintenance.

You are cordially invited to apply your artistic vision to the snow of Iceland. It’s an opportunity to shape a modest but noteworthy addition to the skiing scene, a location that will serve as a reminder of the beauty of winter sports and well-thought-out architecture.
