Small Museum Pavilion (Copenhagen, Denmark)

Competition brief

Organiser and participation terms
Archi Briefer operates an online design-competition platform. Its reviewed documents do not establish a founding date or identify a Copenhagen client commissioning construction. Neither is inferred here from the setting of the brief.
The general terms allow entrants to retain their content rights while granting the platform a licence to use, modify, display, reproduce and distribute submitted content. Entrants must hold the necessary rights. These are platform-wide terms, not a separately negotiated project contract.
The refund policy generally excludes participant cancellations and participant-error refunds. For organiser errors, it mentions both equivalent-value coupons and a full refund after verification; applicants should resolve that inconsistency before payment. The policy also makes any cash-prize payment conditional on entry-fee revenue exceeding the prize, unless sponsored; this call itself announces no cash prize.
✦ ArchUp Competition Review
A small museum is a useful test of architectural priorities: how much space is given to objects, how much to people, and what remains accessible when an exhibition is closed? A strong response would make those choices legible in plan and section rather than relying on a single atmospheric rendering.
The most demanding design question is the relationship between an open civic edge and a controlled interior. Shelter, daylight, servicing and the changing needs of exhibitions should be resolved together. A transparent envelope does not by itself create public accessibility, and a compact footprint does not automatically establish a low environmental impact.
For participation, the committee distinguishes the educational value of developing a proposal from the professional value of the stated outcome. Applicants should judge the fee and workload against recognition rather than expected remuneration, and seek the missing jury and submission details before committing resources. This assessment concerns the published offer, not the organiser’s intentions.
