Years ago, former President Barack Obama’s family bought a luxury vacation home on Martha’s Vineyard, an island south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts.
The island is known as a summer residence for the wealthy and US presidents, and is accessible only by sea or air.
The mansion was originally priced at $14.85 million, before the Obamas got a discount and bought it for $11.75 million.
The Obamas, when he was president of the United States, spent vacations on Martha’s Vineyard several times, and had rented the mansion about a year before purchasing it.
The 29-acre waterfront property is located on a pond separated from the Atlantic Ocean by a beach and a narrow sandbar.
The 6,892-square-foot mansion (one foot is equal to 0.3048 meters) has seven bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
The “spacious and dramatic” living room features vaulted ceilings with exposed steel beams and a stone fireplace that serves as a focal point, according to the listing.
The formal dining room is circular and windowed, the master suite includes a private fireplace and sun deck, and the other bedrooms are spread between two guest suites.
The property includes a pool, a second-floor terrace with a Jacuzzi, and access to the water via a private beach and boathouse.
