The un Design Award represents a profound philosophical proposition and a journey of artistic exploration. Its core lies in embracing the limitless interpretations that individuals can bring to its concept. The term “un” holds multiple layers of meaning, symbolizing ideas such as being “undefined,” “unique,” and “unlimited.” This approach reflects a belief in the unpredictable, boundless nature of life and creativity.

The Concept of “un”

The idea of being “undefined” invites participants to transcend traditional boundaries, encouraging them to reject societal labels and norms. This perspective empowers creators to redefine their shapes and identities, embracing freedom over conformity. Simultaneously, “un” as “unique” highlights the value of originality, where creativity emerges as a personalized and innovative act that defies standardized templates. Furthermore, “un” implies “unlimited,” suggesting that while design rules transition from chaos to structure, the imagination of creators should remain unrestricted, fostering the birth of exceptional ideas.

About the un Design Award

Initiated in Washington, D.C., USA, the un Design Award is an annual global design competition organized by the International Competition Association (ICA). Guided by the theme “The Self is the World,” the award seeks to identify and honor transformative designs and groundbreaking talent from across the globe.
