WXCA Architects and Swiss studio Bellprat Partner

have shared photos and details of the Polish Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai

which closed on March 31, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates.

WXCA and Swiss studio Bellprat Partner were awarded the Silver Medal,

for Best Interiors of the Polish Pavilion by Bureau International des Expositions.

Described as a symbol of mobility, the pavilion has a dominant natural wood motive for being indoors and on heights,

and is distinguished by sophistication and craftsmanship.

The building forms a friendly backdrop for events and meetings, thanks to its “attractive shape”,

and at the same time the object reveals in a very modern way the idea of mobility.

The dynamic solid form suggests the concept of mobility,

in reference to the shape of the container and as a metaphor for a flock of birds in the form of kinetic sculptures.

In the process of creating a narrative for Poland’s pavilion and exhibition scenario,

the motto of Varsovian architecture office WXCA and Swiss studio Bellprat Partner has been Nature-Based Creativity.

As a result of this collaboration, the architects have created a space designed to stimulate exploration of Poland’s natural,

cultural and intellectual richness, while encouraging the pursuit of nature’s wisdom.

The BIE experts, who awarded the Poland Pavilion in the “Interior Design” category,

also appreciated the well-thought-out tour itinerary, the unique shape of the building and the “human scale”.

WXCA Partner and Co-author of the Poland Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai said:

“By designing the building and gallery, we wanted to make the space a coherent and immersive, multi-dimensional experience,

encouraging not only the many facets of Poland, but a reflection on human-nature collaboration and shared responsibility for the planet.”

“When visiting the pavilion, our guests are supposed to feel that they are an integral part of something bigger,

that they really matter,” Sokolska Wrojska added.

National representation for the designers of the Pavilion and the galleries,

the main objective was to communicate, from the point of view of the Poles,

what was most important to the country, the economy and the natural resources of Poland.

The designers also referred to metaphors, in the conviction that architecture influences most powerfully through indirect communication,

inviting recipients to do a self-interpretation, creating a solid and memorable image, which will remain for a long time in the minds of visitors.

“As the creators of the Pavilion, we wanted to create this phenomenon – the building combined with the gallery –

as a powerful phenomenon that emerges from a cloud of birds,” said Anna Dobek Lenczewska.

“This opinion aims to stimulate thinking about the coexistence between man and nature,

the wise use of natural resources and the impact of the environment for innovation in society,” Dubek added.

Marta Sokolska-Wrojska added, “We decided to present nature as a source of ideas and understanding,

which translate into solutions commonly used in many branches of economics.

We also wanted at the same time to show Polish inventors as people who understand nature and the ability to lead it into products.

The power of the flock the joint venture of the WXCA Bellprat Partner,

with a distinct drive for a flock of birds, can be recognized as a concept of collaboration, which is crucial for the organizers EXPO and WXCA as well.

Since the inception of WXCA, the office has been a platform,

where each team member can pursue their own ideas, powered by the energy of group synergies.
