This modern Baja residence, located in Chandler, Arizona, is a new 5,000-square-foot building that incorporates an organic and earthy design. With polished, matte concrete floors, white oak cabinets, and Carrera marble countertops, this home is the perfect blend of simple materials. Hemlock tabs and groove ceilings add warmth to the space, complemented by a black ball of floating fire in the living room and black anodized windows and doors. The interior/exterior stone walls were chosen as a nod to the client’s roots and carried into the negative-edge pool through pocketed glass doors. The kitchen is fitted with black Brizzo Odin fixtures, white oak cabinetry, and an 18-foot island wrapped with Neolith worktops. A white oak floating staircase leads to an elevated space, and soft white walls create a relaxing and inviting ambiance. Furnishing the home was written by Amy Williams, and includes a mix of old and new. Modernity can often feel very cold and sterile – this home is associated with modern elements while maintaining a warm and cozy vibe.
