ABOUT THE COMPETITION

Arch Design Award positions itself as a platform celebrating excellence across the built and visual environment. The award’s symbolic framing—the arch as historical bridge between inside and outside, legacy and innovation—frames submissions as contributions to a broader conversation about design’s role in shaping inhabited space. The competition welcomes work across five disciplines and operates on blind jury evaluation, meaning assessors remain unaware of designer identity during scoring. The award explicitly targets career advancement for winners: enhanced visibility within the global design community, platform presence, and professional recognition serve as primary incentives rather than cash prizes.

WHAT IS REQUIRED

Submissions must represent completed projects executed within the past 12 years (after January 1, 2015). Designers provide project title, location, category classification, head designer/office name, team members, website/project links, written description, photography, photo credits, and copyright information. Submissions are digital and submitted via the competition portal using an assigned ARCH-ID. No specific format requirements or page limits are detailed in published materials. All five award categories are open, though only Architectural Design and Interior Design carry tiered medal levels (Bronze, Silver, Golden); other categories receive recognition designation.

JURY EVALUATION CRITERIA

Jury members (identity and full roster not yet published) score submissions on six weighted dimensions. Design accounts for 35% of final score—the single largest criterion. Each jury member assigns 1–10 points per criterion; final score is a weighted average across all panelists. Blind judging ensures designer anonymity throughout evaluation.

✦ ArchUp Competition Review

Arch Design Award 2027 operates as an established international design recognition platform with clear evaluation methodology and transparent scoring criteria. The tiered fee structure (€200–€500) creates incentive for early commitment while permitting flexible submission timing. The award explicitly targets global designers across five disciplines, though only Architecture and Interior Design carry traditional medal designation; other categories receive recognition-level status. Blind jury evaluation and weighted multi-criteria scoring demonstrate commitment to assessment fairness. The competition’s primary value proposition is portfolio visibility and professional credibility rather than monetary reward—winners gain platform presence, DAA membership integration, and license to display recognition credentials. The absence of a ceremony or live event, combined with no cash prizes, positions this as a reputation-building exercise suitable for mid-career and established professionals seeking international exposure. The intellectual property terms are standard: organizers gain promotional use rights while designers retain copyright. Registration deadline for early-bird pricing closes September 1, 2026; final submission deadline is March 5, 2027. For architects and designers prioritizing international visibility and professional positioning over financial incentive, this represents a straightforward, low-risk entry into a established awards ecosystem with published evaluation standards.
