Head On Photo Awards 2023 now is calling for entries! This is Australia’s most prestigious photography event, one of the world’s leading photography festivals, and the only annual photography festival in Australia.

Run by the Head On Foundation, a non-profit organization in Australia. The Head On Photo Awards seeks the best work from emerging and established photographers across three categories:

Portrait – The image must feature or reflect the essence of a person or group of people and be photographed by the Applicant. Group portraits, self-portraits,s, and collages are accepted. We encourage all photographic styles and interpretations of photographic portraiture.

Landscape – Our approach to ‘landscape’ is comprehensive and encompasses ‘large vista’ images of the natural environment (land or sea), and urban or industrial settings. It may include people, but these should be ‘incidental’ rather than the main subject matter. We encourage all photographic styles and interpretations of ‘landscape’.

Environmental – Images should highlight specific issues, elements,s or people impacting the natural world and our environment’s well-being. Including, but not limited to, human-induced climate change, biodiversity and habitat loss, sustainable practices, pollution, ocean acidification, and micro-diversity.

Images must be by a photographic device that captures images in color and/or black & white. You may enhance the image and apply filters. Copyright in the images remains the property of the photographer.

Held in Sydney over three weeks, it hosts numerous free events and exhibitions, low-cost workshops, and talks led by Australian and international industry professionals.

This competition is open worldwide to photographers of all levels.
