About the Competition
The municipality of Gliwice is soliciting a comprehensive development concept for the Kłodnica waterway corridor within city boundaries. The brief targets the transformation of a post-industrial riverside strip into a multifunctional public realm, weaving together green infrastructure, pedestrian and cycling networks, and climate adaptation strategies. Five distinct segments define the study area — ranging from a port-industrial zone through the dense downtown core, a university campus, a recreational pond district, to the highway-adjacent Sośnica quarter — each presenting unique spatial, ecological, and logistical conditions that demand differentiated design responses.
What Is Required
Scope 1 demands a general concept for the entire river corridor at 1:5,000 scale. Scope 2 requires detailed proposals for three key sections selected by each team, with a mandatory condition that at least two of those sections fall within Segment B (City Center). All documentation — boards, descriptions, and official forms — must be prepared in Polish. Each participating team must include a qualified architect and a landscape architect; a Master’s degree in Architecture satisfies the educational requirement per Section 4.2 of the regulations.
