Significant Progress in Construction Works at Trojena Mountain Project in NEOM

Home » News » Significant Progress in Construction Works at Trojena Mountain Project in NEOM

Amid the rugged mountains of Trojena, steel structures are steadily rising as part of the Trojena NEOM project. This reveals the outline of one of the most ambitious projects in the region. Construction activities are accelerating on-site, offering a striking visual of architectural ambition taking shape among the rocks.

At an altitude exceeding 2,600 meters above sea level, advanced construction works on the Trojena NEOM project are currently underway across the mountainous terrain. Recent images show major structural elements already in place. Furthermore, there is extensive use of tower cranes and multi-level scaffolding. These are clear indicators that the project has entered an advanced execution phase.

Project and Location

Trojena is located within the boundaries of NEOM in northwest Saudi Arabia. It is spread across a vast stretch of rugged natural terrain. The site was carefully selected to host the Gulf region’s first year-round mountain destination. It blends raw nature with contemporary engineering in a one-of-a-kind sustainable development, which is part of the Trojena NEOM project.

Implementing Bodies

NEOM is directly overseeing the Trojena NEOM project’s execution, in collaboration with international engineering firms and specialised contractors. Given the site’s extreme topography, the construction process involves innovative engineering solutions tailored to the mountain environment.

Design Vision

According to the publicly announced vision, the architectural approach for the Trojena NEOM project aims to integrate the built environment seamlessly into the rocky landscape. It seeks to preserve the site’s ecological character while offering a unique visual and spatial experience. Construction teams are employing precision techniques to anchor structures securely into the mountainside. They do this without disrupting the site’s natural balance.

Project Components

Trojena will include a wide range of hospitality and recreational facilities, such as luxury hotels, hiking and skiing trails, and multipurpose event and conference venues. One of the project’s signature features is the open-air ski village, part of the Trojena NEOM project. It is the first of its kind in the Middle East, designed to operate throughout the year.

Current Phase

The images indicate that the Trojena NEOM project has moved beyond excavation and groundwork. It is advancing toward structural assembly and initial facade installations. Workers and heavy machinery are visibly active, signalling adherence to an ambitious construction timeline. The aim is to deliver the first phase in the coming years.
