The 59th edition of steirischer herbst will take place from September 24 to October 18, 2026, across Graz and Styria, Austria. Under the theme “Red Flags,” the festival explores society’s fascination with warning signals and examines whether important political and social warnings have been overlooked for too long.
The festival features a diverse program of contemporary art exhibitions, performances, discussions, literature, music, and partner events. The main exhibition will continue until November 15, 2026, offering visitors an extended opportunity to explore the festival’s central themes.
The festival will officially open on September 24, 2026, at Karmeliterplatz, followed by a series of performances and cultural events throughout Graz. The program is complemented by ORF musikprotokoll, the Out of Joint literature festival, the Autumn Cabaret, and numerous partner programs.
