I. Ulusal Creavit Öğrenci Tasarım Yarışması: Creavit İle Troya Destanı Yeniden Yazılıyor

Competition brief
Creavit’s first national student design competition asks for an original ceramic washbasin informed by the stories, symbols or cultural memory of Troy. The task concerns a product for wet interiors, not a building or a reconstruction of the ancient city. Entrants must connect their interpretation to function, material behaviour and manufacturing feasibility; an optional room setting is not itself the object of judging.
Organizer assessment
Creavit is the organizer and manufacturer behind the call. Its participant declaration identifies Çanakçılar Seramik Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ as the legal company and data controller. The official site supplies a ten-page brief, a signed undertaking, an application form and named jurors. This is advertised as the first edition, so there are no previous results for this competition to assess; an earlier competition-payment record was not independently established. The documents identify a separate rapporteur service, distinct from the organizing manufacturer.
| Organizer | Creavit / Çanakçılar Seramik Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ. |
| Eligibility | Turkish or northern Cypriot citizens studying architecture, interior architecture, industrial design or ceramics at undergraduate level; detailed conditions below. |
| Entry fee | No entry fee is stated in the reviewed brief or public application form. |
| Registration deadline | 4 December 2026 — entry accompanies submission; no separate advance-registration deadline is announced. |
| Submission deadline | 4 December 2026, 23:59; timezone unspecified. Indicative UTC conversion: 20:59 assuming UTC+3. |
| Total prize fund | TRY 285,000 (approximately USD 5,754), plus a separately described factory visit for the top three. |
Eligibility and submission requirements
| Participation | Solo or teams of up to four; every member must qualify. Up to three projects per entrant/team, with a separate application number for each. Eligible universities may be in Türkiye or abroad. |
| Student status and exclusions | The brief also admits applicants aged no more than 30 who retain a higher-education affiliation documented by a current student certificate. The undertaking adds family and professional-conflict exclusions involving Creavit staff and jurors, with an exception for a student–academic-juror teaching relationship. Read both documents; do not interpret the additional status clause as unrestricted graduate eligibility. |
| Boards | Up to three portrait A2 boards (420 × 594 mm), JPG/JPEG/PNG, at least 200 dpi. Put the system-issued entry number at top right. Include sketches, 3D views and 1:5 plans, sections, elevations and perspectives, with drawing labels and scales. |
| Reports | Project report: 150–1,000 words, A4 PDF, describing concept, materials, production method and innovation. A separate AI report of 150–1,000 words is required; the official FAQ says this applies even if AI was not used. If used, disclose tools, initial prompt, stages, contribution and initial generated sketches. |
| Identity documents | Identity document, current student certificate—not merely a student card—and all pages of the brief and undertaking signed by every team member. Keep identity separate from anonymous design material; names, schools, photographs, contact details and identifying QR codes on boards are prohibited. |
| Submission channel and language | Upload through the official application module. The documents and form are Turkish; acceptance of English or another language is not expressly confirmed. Save the application number for updates before the deadline. |
| Digital limits | The live form displays 25 MB for boards, 4 MB for the project report, 10 MB for the AI report, 2 MB for the student certificate and 4 MB each for signed documents. Optional video: maximum 30 seconds; the brief specifies MP4, while the form also lists MOV and a 25 MB limit. |
| Conflicting interface wording | The brief allows up to three A2 boards; the form marks three board slots as required and says boards cannot be smaller than A2. Follow the brief’s A2/200 dpi specification and clarify whether fewer boards can be accepted before final upload. The form’s 1,000-pixel minimum does not replace the brief’s resolution requirement. |
| Originality | Work must be original, unpublished, unproduced, not commercialized and not previously awarded in the same or similar form. Infringement can lead to exclusion and prize recovery. |
Prizes and timetable
| First / second / third | TRY 100,000 / 75,000 / 50,000; approximately USD 2,019 / 1,514 / 1,010. |
| Special prizes | Three × TRY 20,000, approximately USD 404 each. The site calls these honourable mentions; the brief calls them Creavit special prizes. |
| Factory visit | The top three are offered a visit to the Gökçebey factory with return transport and two nights’ accommodation paid by Creavit. This is separate from cash awards and is not a paid design appointment. |
| Payment, taxes and discretion | Payment date and net/gross tax treatment are not stated. The jury may withhold, divide or equalize awards if it considers the entries insufficient. |
| Jury and results | Jury meeting: week of 14 December 2026. Results: 25 December 2026. Ceremony and exhibition: January 2027, exact date unannounced. |
| Currency estimate | Calculated 19 October 2026 using ECB reference rates dated 16 October: EUR 1 = USD 1.1253 = TRY 55.7328. Rounded USD values are indicative; awards remain denominated in TRY. |

Rights, purchase and implementation
Important: retaining authorship does not mean unrestricted reuse. Clause 11.7 restricts transfer or use by other firms for two years after the competition, while clause 11.8 grants Creavit indefinite, unpaid exhibition and promotional use. These clauses are written for participants’ submitted designs, not only the winning entries.
The brief says intellectual and industrial property remains with designers and a prize is not a rights transfer. It places responsibility for a design-registration application before submission on the entrant. Creavit receives priority purchase rights, but has no obligation to buy. Any acquisition requires a separate transfer/licence agreement; its price is capped at the total competition prize amount. No production contract, royalty or construction outcome is guaranteed.
Permitted uses include attributed publication, archiving, exhibition, exhibition prototypes and corporate advertising/promotional reproduction without additional payment. The organizer reserves unilateral amendment, postponement or cancellation without participant compensation. The reviewed documents do not set an entry-payment refund process or a prize-payment timetable. These are summaries of the organizer’s terms, not a legal determination of their enforceability.
✦ ArchUp Competition Review
The committee finds a defined design task, a disclosed manufacturer, weighted criteria and a panel spanning spatial design, products and cultural interpretation. That combination can support a substantive exercise in translating narrative into a usable ceramic object. The maker’s role is relevant to production questions, but it is not evidence that winning designs will reach manufacture.
The principal reservation is proportionality between the student workload and the restrictions placed on future use. Participants should assess the two-year limitation, broad unpaid promotional licence and capped acquisition price before committing an original design. The board-upload inconsistency and unstated timezone also warrant clarification. Publication here records the opportunity and its limits; it is not an endorsement of every contractual condition.
Related competitions — Editorial team selection
For related archive reading, the Art Gallery competition addresses cultural interpretation through space, while the Harem Bus Station student competition offers a different scale of design and a useful comparison of participation conditions. These are thematic references, not a statement that both calls remain open.
Time remaining for submission
Indicative countdown: 4 December 2026 at 20:59 UTC assumes the published 23:59 deadline means UTC+3. No timezone is expressly stated; confirm it and submit early. Entry accompanies submission.
