August 29 @ 8:00 am - November 1 @ 5:00 pm
$3.61 – $11.55
The Busan Biennale 2026 takes place from August 29 to November 1, 2026, marking its 14th edition under the artistic direction of Amal Khalaf and Evelyn Simons. Titled “Dissident Chorus,” the biennale explores sound, voice, listening, and collective expression as powerful forms of resistance, memory, care, and solidarity. Bringing together 46 artists and participants from 22 countries, the exhibition presents a diverse range of contemporary practices that challenge conventional ways of seeing and experiencing art.
The biennale unfolds across three distinctive sites in Busan: the Busan Museum of Contemporary Art on Eulsukdo Island, the former Space OneZ marine-supplies warehouse, and the former Busan Nam High School, creating a dialogue between ecological landscapes, industrial histories, labor, education, and local memory.
Featuring artists and collectives such as Jota Mombaça, Nkisi, Tai Shani, Dew Kim, Julien Creuzet, and The House of Korean Protest Songs, the 2026 edition brings together sound, performance, installation, and oral histories to create a rich, multilayered experience. “Dissident Chorus” invites audiences to listen differently and consider how voices, stories, and shared acts of listening can become tools for preserving memory, building solidarity, and imagining alternative futures.
