The 2026 theme, “The Oncoming Other” (Vastaantulija), explores the importance of human encounters, shared spaces, and community connections. It examines how interactions between people, ideas, and physical environments can inspire creativity, innovation, and new ways of thinking.
The festival features a diverse program of exhibitions, open studios, talks, fashion shows, workshops, and Children’s Design Week, offering visitors opportunities to discover new ideas and engage with designers, artists, and creative professionals.
A major highlight is the Design Market, held at the Cable Factory on August 29–30, 2026, featuring one of the Nordic region’s largest warehouse sales dedicated to design.
Helsinki Design Week 2026 offers a unique platform for discovering emerging design trends, connecting with creative communities, and exploring how design, people, culture, and shared spaces shape the world around us.
