Sydney Build Expo 2026 is Australia’s largest construction and design show. It takes place over two days at the ICC Sydney in Darling Harbour. The event brings together the construction, design, and built environment sectors.

Focus

The expo centres on innovation, shaping the future of the built environment. Key themes include AI and digital construction, sustainability, workforce development, future housing solutions, and emerging technologies in building practices.

For deeper insight into how materials evolve with new technologies, see our section on building materials.

Program

Attendees explore a large exhibition floor with over 700 exhibitors showcasing products and solutions. The program features 750+ speakers across 16 stages, including CPD-accredited conferences and workshops. Additional elements include live demonstrations, networking parties, an Architect’s Hub, a Government Hub, Meet the Buyers sessions, interactive experiences, live music, and entertainment.

These sessions often touch on sustainability in architecture, especially through topics on green technologies and future housing. Co-located events further explore digital construction tech and international trends.

✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight

From an architecture perspective, Sydney Build Expo 2026 places strong emphasis on technology and regulatory themes yet offers limited space for critical examination of spatial or cultural dimensions in design. The heavy focus on AI, digital tools, and sustainability metrics supports efficient delivery but rarely challenges conventional typologies or explores how innovation might reshape architectural quality and urban experience. With its festival-like format and numerous stages, the event risks prioritising volume and spectacle over depth in architectural discourse.

Closing Note

The expo holds a prominent two-day position in Australia’s construction calendar. Its scale positions it as a major industry gathering focused on practical innovation and networking.
